Privacy policy

Fik Satellites ("the app") is built and operated by fik. It lets Shopify merchants sell their products on other websites ("sites"). This policy explains what the app processes and why.

Merchant data

  • Shop session: your shop domain and the access tokens Shopify issues to the app, so it can act on your behalf. Stored in Google Cloud (Firestore, europe-west1).
  • Site settings (name, website URL, public Storefront API token, collections, colours, optional GA4 ID): stored in your own Shopify store as app-owned metaobjects, not on our servers.
  • Catalog data (products, collections, publications) is read from Shopify when you use the app and is not stored by us.
  • Orders placed through your Headless storefronts are read to show widget sales: order number, totals, sales channel and the widget attributes. No customer details are read, and nothing is stored on our servers beyond a short-lived in-memory summary.
  • Where widgets are live: the first website address each site's widgets load on is saved in your own Shopify store, to complete the setup guide.

Website visitors (shoppers)

  • The widget script stores the shopper's cart ID in their browser (localStorage) so the cart survives a reload.
  • Carts are created on your Shopify store with attribution fields: site, widget and page URL, plus the Google Analytics client and session IDs when the website already uses GA. Checkout and orders are handled entirely by Shopify.
  • If you configure GA4 IDs, the widgets send e-commerce events (product views, add to cart, checkout start) to those properties, following the website's consent settings (Google Consent Mode).
  • The app does not store shoppers' personal data on its own servers.

Retention and deletion

When you uninstall the app, its sessions for your shop are deleted, and Shopify removes the app's metaobjects. We also honour Shopify's data-erasure requests (customer and shop redaction).
